Establishing the dates for the origin and main diversification events in the phylogeny of Ascomycota is among the most crucial remaining goals in understanding the evolution of Fungi. There have been several analyses of divergence times in the fungal tree of life in the last two decades, but most have yielded contrasting results for the origin of the major lineages. Moreover, very few studies have provided temporal estimates for a large set of clades within Ascomycota. We performed molecular dating to estimate the divergence times of most of the major groups of Ascomycota. To account for paleontological uncertainty, we included alternative fossil constraints as different scenarios to enable a discussion of the effect of selection of fossils. We used data from 6 molecular markers and extant taxa within Ascomycota. The main lineages of lichen—forming Ascomycota originated at least as early as the Carboniferous, with successive radiations in the Jurassic and Cretaceous generating the diversity of the main modern groups. Our study provides new information about the timing of the main diversification events in Ascomycota, including estimates for classes, orders and families of both lichenized and non—lichenized Ascomycota, many of which had not been previously dated. On a balmy Tuesday evening, half a dozen young people gathered for drinks, as young people will, at the HiFi Bar in the East Village. Discussing alma maters, odd jobs and Zooey Deschanel, the six seemed surprisingly comfortable, considering that none had met before. They had been set up by the Dating Ring , a matchmaking service that facilitates group dating.

Authors: Liritzis , I. The field of Luminescence Dating has reached a level of maturity. Both research and applications from all fields of archaeological science, from archaeological materials to anthropology and geoarchaeology, now routinely employ luminescence dating. The advent of optically stimulated luminescence OSL techniques and the potential for exploring a spectrum of grain aliquots enhanced the applicability, accuracy and the precision of luminescence dating.
The present contribution reviews the physical basis, mechanisms and methodological aspects of luminescence dating; discusses advances in instrumentations and facilities, improvements in analytical procedures, and statistical treatment of data along with some examples of applications across continents, covering all periods Middle Palaeolithic to Medieval and both Old and New World archaeology. They also include interdisciplinary applications that contribute to palaeo-landscape reconstruction.

After going to college on the East Coast and spending a few years bouncing around, Jacob moved back to his native Oregon, settling in Portland. Almost immediately, he was surprised by the difficulty he had meeting women. Having lived in New York and the Boston area, he was accustomed to ready-made social scenes. Jacob was single for two years and then, at 26, began dating a slightly older woman who soon moved in with him. She seemed independent and low-maintenance, important traits for Jacob.
Past girlfriends had complained about his lifestyle, which emphasized watching sports and going to concerts and bars. Before long, his new relationship fell into that familiar pattern. He was passive in their arguments, hoping to avoid confrontation.

One in every ten American adults has used an online dating site or a mobile dating app. The questions we have used to measure online dating have evolved over the years, and as a result we cannot directly compare the size of the total online dating population to some of our earlier surveys on the subject. Urban and suburban residents are more likely than rural residents to use online dating, and those who have attended college are around twice as likely to do so as are those who have not attended college.
Of course, only a portion of the population is in the market for a relationship at any given time. Some are currently in long-standing relationships that predate the adoption of online dating, while others are single but not actively looking for a romantic partner. This does not include users of mobile dating apps, which will be discussed in the next section of the report. The college-educated and those in their mid-twenties through mid-forties are especially likely to use online dating sites.
